Using WinXDF and WinDRV WinXDF is a program used to manipulate X68000 disk images with a convenient and easy to use GUI. WinDRV is an X68000 system file that allows you to access Windows 9x and DOS drives(hard drives, floppy drives, cd-rom, etc.) from INSIDE EX68 through HumanOS and SX-Windows.. truly a useful tool. First we'll talk about WinXDF since you'll need it to get WinDRV onto your X68000 disk. First thing's first. I'll have you download a copy of it. If you unzip that and run it you'll probably find that the menus are garbage characters(unless you're running a double-byte program like NJWin). This is because its a japanese program, it wont affect its operation in any way(I dont think). At any rate, as you can see, the screenshot below is in Japanese. The first option is (R), or Read. This is used for dumping the contents of a disk image onto your hard drive. You'll probably want to see what it does, so pick the first option in the first menu. A file dialogue will pop up, so pick the disk you want to dump. The dialogue will change, this is where you pick the directory on your hard drive that you want to dump the disk to, so pick a place that will be easy to clean out(i.e. not in your windows directory). Congratulations, you now have the contents of an X68000 disk image on your Windows hard drive. Now I'm sure you're wondering "what am I supposed to do with stuff after I change it?" Well I'll answer that now. The second option is (W), for Write. I think that speaks for itself. But in case you dont understand, thats for writing files from your Windows hard drive onto an X68000 disk image. If you pick the second option, you'll be presented with a file dialogue. Pick the disk image you want to write to and the dialogue will change from 'Save As' to 'Open', from here pick the file(s) you want to write to the disk and click the Open button. If all goes well you'll see something like this in the text area of the WinXDF window... Write
to Tools01.xdf Page 2, on to WinDRV.
